Abstract What discussed until now in the field of Islamic history studies, and especially the imamate of Imam Hadi (PBUH), was mostly explicating the historical events which leads to the negligence of many socio-cultural aspects of such events. It seems that today what can be the key for understanding many of such events is the explanation of views and intellectual principles of this great Imam through content and thematic analysis of his words because it is via the understanding of each person’s discourse and logical organization of his words that we can achieve an exhaustive understanding of his ideas and the depth of his thoughts. Investigating the themes of Imam Hadi’s correspondences via content analysis, this article aims to, first, provide a general summation of his correspondences and, then, discover their structure and, finally, achieve a comprehensive view about the political, intellectual, ideological and moral principles of this great Imam. The results of this study show that most efforts of this great Imam were to explicate the status and role of immaculate Imams as the most important principle of Islamic religion in the Islamic society. Doing so, he tried to explain this matter through commemorating the Household of the Prophet, introducing himself as the righteous Imam using knowledge of the Absent, introducing his successors, introducing the deputies and representatives, acquitting of the enemies of the Household of the Prophet and, finally, emphasizing the appearance of Mahdi. Of course, answering the questions of the Shiites and explaining the foundations of extracting the rules and their principles are other issues pursued in the correspondences. What reveals the necessity of this research is paying attention to the pivotal role of such researches in entering the historical issues and analyzing the socio-historical discourse of the immaculate Imams’ era.
