Abstract Today in many Shiite regions, standing up and putting the hand on the head at the moment of hearing the name of Imam Zaman is enumerated amongst the customs of Absence Time and sometimes it is considered as a religious and prevalent tradition in the life of Shiites. Such life is said to have kept its continuity up to the time of the Immaculate and is rooted in the order and life style of immaculate Immams. Studying the documents related to such act in the life style of Ahlol Bayt (PBUT) and exploring the frequent words in them, the history of such act among the Muslims, its historical evolution and diversity of Muslim scholars’ ideas, this article investigates the origin, why and how of such practice among Shiites with a descriptive-analytic method. Keywords Imam Zaman, Gha’em, reverence, standing up, putting the hand on the head
